Dandara dos Santos, 42, who lived in Fortaleza in northeastern Brazil, is begging a group of six men to spare her life as she is kicked and hit with a wooden plank and shoes before a crowd of residents in a small town.
The incident took place last month with the horrifying attack filmed on a smartphone.
#4 The Attackers Insult
In Portuguese, the attackers taunt her with homophobic and transphobic insults. They mock her breasts and shout that they “will kill the faggotâ€.
The video was initially circulated online by LGBT groups to raise awareness about the huge number of attacks against trans and gender diverse people in Brazil.
#3 Poor Ms. Santos
Ms Santos has blood wiping from her face and is looking her attackers in fear, her clothes are ripped, torn and covered in her blood.
However, the men keep abusing the woman and she keeps on begging the attackers to spare her life but they simply lift her into a wheelbarrow and roll her away to a back alley where she was beaten and then shot.
#2 Serious Investigation
Police Inspector Damasceno who is investigating the death said: "Six people have been identified and the video has helped with that.
"The footage was first circulated among LGBT groups which helped that process.
The government of Ceará said in a statement: ‘It should be informed that the entire structure of the State Public Security is mobilised for the investigation of the crime and will punish those responsible.’
