Everyone has seen road barriers. Those steel structures that line the road. They are a very essential part of the traffic and safety infrastructure when it comes to vehicles and roads. While some might know their proper function, other might not! So let's find out more about that first.
#4 Safety
The primary function of a road barrier is to ensure that the vehicles stay on the road. They also help a dual purpose of ensuring that the vehicles are safe and the pedestrians are safe from the vehicles as well. Some road barriers help in keeping the vehicle on the road when passing through bridges and the vehicle happens to lose control.
#3 But the thing is...
These road barriers are quite dangerous too. If a vehicle traveling at a high speed where to crash at it, it puts the lives of those inside the vehicle at high risk. Or worse. Vehicles have known to even topple upon impact at times. As you can see from the image above it is quite dangerous. But the thing is, no one paid much attention to this detail or so we thought.
#2 New Design
A South Korean company ETI has thought of a whole new design for road barriers. Something that will serve the primary purpose of a road barrier while adding new features that will enable to protect the lives of those inside the vehicle. The idea is very unique and very intriguing.

What the company is doing is that it is using a hybrid version of a road barrier where the metal columns of the bar absorb the force of the impact while the plastic rollers installed between them begin to turn making sure the vehicle doesn't turn over. Thereby, also reducing the potential damaged caused to the vehicle.
