#4 This Different Bridge
Bridges all around the world are more or less similarly designed. The design is pretty straight connecting isolated points. But this bridge in Uruguay is different from all the other traditional bridges you would've seen till date.
This bridge is not straight. As you can see in the picture and read in the title, this Bridge is circular in shape. Needless to say, constructing this wasn't an easy job.

#3 The Designer
So this bridge is designed by Rafael Vinoly. Rafael is an architect from Uruguay. For this particular bridge, he wanted a very unconventional design on board to make it look extremely different.
This bridge spans Laguana Garzon in Uruguay and is very recently opened for public use. Rafael says that the circular design has a very strong reason behind it.
Checkout the reason ahead.

#2 The Reason
The main reason behind this design was to control the speed of the vehicles of the commuters. The entire project cost $11 million, $10 million of which came from Argentinian real-estate developer Eduardo Constantini.
It wasn't easy to get the approval for this unusual design by the government. The circular design was finally approved following years of governmental debate and features a radius of 51.5 meters that is bracketed using two straight sections, each measuring 46 meters, at the entrances.

#1 Rafael Vinoly
Rafael Vinoly said, "The concept of the Puente Laguna Garzon was to transform a traditional vehicular crossing into an event that reduces the speed of the cars, to provide an opportunity to enjoy panoramic views to an amazing landscape, and at the same time create a pedestrian place in the centre."
Uruguay government is focussing more on developing sustainability and tourism. This bridge can be seen as a start of the development of sustainability and tourism in Uruguay.
